Sibebe Resort launches zipline

MBABANE - Here is something for the adventurou­s.

Sibebe Resort has officially launched one of the most thrilling and adventorou­s tourism products, a zipline.

Zipline is a type of leisure/sports activity, in which the customers zoom from one side of a wire that is firmly fixed on poles or trees to the other using trolleys mounted on the wire. The name, Zipline, came from the ‘zip’ sound it makes as the customers travel from one side to the other. It also has other names such as Canopy Tour Flying Fox, Zip Wire, Aerial Runway, or Tyrolean Crossing, as they are called in other regions.

Creators

The launch was graced by the Minister of Tourism and Environmen­tal Affairs, Moses Vilakati and some local content creators.

The 400 metre zipline was installed by a company called Chimp and Zee from South Africa; they have been involved in a number of custom design, and constructi­on projects all over South Africa, Africa and the Middle East.

The minister shared that the exciting experience came at the right time where they are encouragin­g domestic tourism.

He also noted that they will soon be celebratin­g World Tourism Day under the theme ‘Tourism for Inclusive Growth’. “It is with great pleasure that we gather here today to witness and celebrate the addition of yet another enticing product to the Kingdom of Eswatini’s dynamic range of tourism offerings – the Sibebe Resort Zip Line. Last year we launched the #EswatiniHa­sMore campaign to heighten awareness, and increase domestic interest in the myriad of tourism facilities, activities and attraction sites that await EmaSwati to explore. The response from domestic tourists has been overwhelmi­ngly positive and we continue to marvel at the sheer pride that locals have displayed in being ambassador­s of Eswatini tourism. opening up and artists were starting to get gigs again, especially corporate gigs.

Symphony said it was humbling to be constantly booked at a time where the country was still closed and only certain regulation­s have been suspended.

She highlighte­d that corporate gigs were more of her thing and she had quite a few under her belt.

Vilakati went on to share that the additional activity compliment­ed the facility’s scenic splendour against the awe-inspiring backdrop of the internatio­nally renowned, historic landmark, the Sibebe Rock.

Sentiments

Local content creators , the likes of Dr Shakes, Bloss, Zulu D, Melusi, Temansele, Bongani Shiba , Gogo, Jumbo, Belinda and Sethu to mention a few.

The all shared the same sentiments. They said the experience was mind blowing. They said they had fun.

“I had a great time and I would do it over and over again. Well, I played two times,” said Temansele.

Dr Shakes said, “At first I was a bit sceptical but I had a blast.”

The above mentioned influencer­s were the first to experience the second zipline in the country.

Themba Thwala from the resort shared that they were ready to welcome participan­ts. He said the thrilling and safe experience will cost E150 per person and school children will be expected to pay E100. “The mentioned prices are for our tourism month. We will have consent forms and also orientate interested candidates,” he said.

Tourism Authority (ETA), she sang her hit song ‘Chance’ taken from the ‘sengikhona’ album, the singer was vocally on point and had everyone eating out at the palm of her hand.

Guests were left amazed at the pure talent; during her second round she sang the much acclaimed hit song ‘Sengikhona’. The second round left the guest mesmerised and wanting for more.

Gratitude

Guests who had chance to receive the signed CDs expressed their gratitude to the singer and said they were very grateful.

“I have always heard her music on radio and thought she was good, look at God now, I have the whole album in my hands,’’said Nomcebo Dlamini who received the free CD. Another guest said she could not wait to blast the whole album on repeat in her car.

Symphony is a soul singer from Eswatini, her sound is neo soul sound and has a gospel influence. She released her debut album ‘Sengikhona’ in 2018. She is the winner of the 2017 MTN Bushfire Firefly Storm and performed at 11th edition of The MTN Bushfire Festival.

In 2015 she entered into the T55 talent search competitio­n and made it to the finals. She became 2016 KFC/SIBUKO Sesive brand ambassador for Swaziland’s 48th independen­ce promotions.

Symphony was among the winners of the 2017 MTN SWAMA awards for her EP ‘Sengikhona’.
