Adja not so ‘Innocent’ - Wanderers
MBABANE – Hub giants Manzini Wanderers have responded to claims by released goalkeeper Innocent Adja Obodoi that he was owed money and has a running contract with them.
The hub side, also fondly known as the ‘Weslians’ or liWeseli, is adamant that Adja, who has accused them of a contract breach, may have also done same even before he was axed last Friday.
“As a club, releasing the player means he can go and get himself another team and that he is not part of our plans in the following season. If Adja believes he has a contract, then he should have come to training and pleaded his case.

“The club pays for services provided but some of the released players didn’t give us that. Above all, he could have come to us and pleaded his case as he has a contract. We are saying that he’s being released from the contract because he’s not in our plans next season and can get himself a new team,” said Wanderers’ PRO and Acting Management Committee (MC) Chairman Mlungisi ‘Mluga’ Ndzinisa.
Ndzinisa was responding to the player’s claim that they released him regardless of the fact that he still had a year left of his two-year contract and that he was owed three months’ salary which was around E30 000. “How does he count that? We signed him for certain services as a club,” Ndzinisa said.
Meanwhile, Adja said the club could say anything but all he knew was that they owed him signing-on fee and the salary as aforementioned and insisted on taking further steps, should nothing be forthcoming from the maroon and white side. Adja was released with several other players including Jimoh Moses and Siphamandla Dhlamini.
