Diverse religions can help

-

Sir,

Eswatini is experiencing crises from all spheres. As a nation we are at a stage where we are no longer able to realise meaningful social advances. We are battling with COVID-19, political unrests, a dwindling economy, a declining education system, poor healthcare and a society that is losing moral fibre.

Advance in technology appears to be tearing our families apart, we are fast becoming socially isolated due to social media, pregnancy prevalence among pupils, increase in cohabitation in both urban and rural settings, etc.

Sir,

Failing

Regardless of improvement in literacy, we seem to be failing to make sound decisions with regard to our lives. With the state of our affairs, I am even tempted to say that our literacy is proving less effective in gearing up rapid social progress. Instead, it has become its brakes, defying established expectations.

As we battle on, I believe our diverse religions can help us win these challenges, thus helping to build a better future for ourselves and children and to make Eswatini a better place to live in.

It is delighting to note that religion defied expectations of experts who, not so long ago, predicted its demise. Contrary

Make a difference

The activity of leading should always result in inspiring others to be the best that they can be and not be a hindrance to the development of others.

A leader is a person who leads, guides and inspires others.

Resources

Every country has various resources to help it become a better nation. When resources are not managed well by those in leadership, development is inevitably hindered. We need leaders who will take the nation to

to that, people have become more religious than before. This is because religion plays a crucial role in our every day choices.

Our religious beliefs and practices shape our choices and decisions. Since we are a religious nation that is predominantly Christian, let us unite towards realising meaningful social progress that will minimise our challenges as a nation.

Celebration

Religion ought to be essentially a celebration of treasure and excellence, which is missing in our nation. Our youth is heavily engaged in drugs and illicit love affairs.

Religion is powerful in building society in that, it contains doctrines which among other things, teach the adherents how to conduct themselves. It also another level socially, economically and politically.

And due to the fact that society has become more complex over time, the job of leaders has become more essential.

Leaders

To actually be good managers in today’s world, we also must be good leaders.

People are not interchangeable cogs; they are individuals who must be trained and developed in order to achieve the full power of the country. In order for Eswatini to rise to that desired first world status, those in key positions in society should use those positions effectively and not teaches them how to handle resentment and envy – turning it into socially harmless and maybe, beneficial channels.

Resentment and envy are common these days as more and more people are working hard to become rich and famous thus creating envy and resentment of others.

That is why we all need religion; rich or poor, educated or not. The rich and famous need religion the most because they are the ones who have to face the envy of others on a daily basis.

I need to mention that religious beliefs and practices should go with reasoning. This will help us all gain insight into what we believe in thus appreciate the positive roles it plays in our lives.

With critical inquiry to our religious beliefs, we can make Eswatini a better nation, and all these challenges, including pupils falling pregnant, would be a thing of the past.

Through religion, we can build a new better Eswatini.

hinder progress.

They must not only focus on systems and structures, but must also focus on developing people.

They must create and embrace the culture of action. Without execution, strategy is useless.

Change

In order to manage our resources, be it natural or human, for change in the nation, they need to embrace ethics; moral values and moral education.

Ethics demand that they refuse to use their positions for personal gain, but for national development.

Ethics demand that they do not use their positions to oppress others.

They must not look at those around

Time and silence

Sir,

Many believe that choices are the most important aspects of our lives. They have abundant reasons to believe that it is our choices, and not chances that determine our destinies. But without time, life is meaningless and choices are nothing.

That is why they say life is driven by choices as much as it is also driven by time. So why judge a silent person without that being approved by time? Why judge a person because of only one season? After all everything is in the hands of time.

Everybody nowadays is saying shatter the silence or break the silence but there is one thing that they don’t understand; ‘being silent goes with time’. As much as some people have chosen to remain silent, it is only time that can tell how and when to break the silence. People end up committing suicide only because they thought time was against them. Others speak up but we end up criticising their actions; so what is the use of saying ‘break the silence’ if we judge those people? That is why Abraham Lincoln once said; “It is better to be silent than to speak and remove all the doubts’, but only do that if time is on your side.”

them as competitors, or obstacles, but part of their advancement. Leadership is about influencing people positively and accurately.

Leaders must learn the art of correctly influencing people towards desired results. People are key in solving national problems.

Leaders must be sources of inspiration and motivation and not perpetual sources of pain and misery. A leader’s ultimate goal should be to have a positive impact on the lives of people. As a nation we must embrace the leadership mentality and attitude. Together we can make a difference.
