Cop beat me when I reported dad - daughter

-

PIGG’S PEAK – Siphofaneni Police Station failed to stop Jerry from committing more rape offences on his daughters.

This was because when one of his daughters reported him, she was beaten by a female police officer. The police officer is said to have hit Jerry’s daughter using a case register.

One of Jerry’s daughters revealed this during trial. She said the police officer accused her of lying. The officer is also said to have told the girl that it was people like her who turned convicted serial killer David Simelane into what he became.

In one of his statements, Simelane is said to have said he was once wrongly convicted of rape and after he was freed he began to target women. Jerry’s daughter said the assault at the police station happened in 2014 when she went to report that her father had raped her. The police officer is also said to have called the girl’s father and reported what she had said.

The survivor said after she had left the police station with her father, they boarded a kombi and alighted at a certain place near a bush. He said they went to the bush where he threatened to hang her with a piece of wire until she apologised.

Rape

Her father was employed to herd cattle in one of the farms owned by Tibiyo Taka Ngwane. The girl who was eight years old at the time, said her father continued to rape her after the incident.

Ironically, she also told the court she was raped in the fields at Malkerns, the same vicinity where Simelane is said to have killed several women. As a result of the continuous rape, Jerry’s daughter said she eventually fell pregnant. However, she said her father told her to accuse a certain boy as the father of her child.
