O NMonday pupils in three schools boycotted classes and tabled various demands to their administrations. And as a result, the PAC is of the view that security personnel should be deployed to maintain peace and order in schools.

Yes, the ongoing riots in some schools are a cause for serious concern because pupils in the country have lost a lot of learning time and cannot afford any further disruptions.

The reality is that Eswatini cannot afford to lose another hour of learning time. It is true that it is urgent that we get every child back into the classroom, but deploying security personnel to schools is not the right way to get them back in class.

What needs to be done is to identify those responsible for inciting the pupils to riot. Also, parents need to come to the party as they have a responsibility of disciplining their children instead of doing nothing to stop these riots.
