ECA names inal squad for Rwanda
MBABANE – Eswatini Cricket Association (ECA) has named a final squad of 14 players that will travel to Rwanda for the senior Men’s World Cup Qualifier.
The senior men’s national team is expected to leave the country on October 13 while the qualifying games will start on October 14- 20, 2021. They will leave the country a day before the games begin they will return back home a day after the qualifying games end.
ECA Operations Officer Mandla Dlamini said they had already started training and they were still working on getting the players in good condition since they will be playing against the best team in Group A.
“We are playing against the hardest teams which are the hosts Rwanda,
Ghana, Lesotho, Malawi, Uganda, and Seychelles. The qualifying matches are not easy so we need to have a strong team that will be able to handle any pressure,” Dlamini said.
Meanwhile, there will be 13 countries taking part in the sub-regional qualifier and they will be consisting of two groups. Only the top two teams in each group will be progressing to the regional final.
The two highest-ranking national teams which are Kenya and Nigeria will automatically progress directly to the regional finals.
