#JusticeForThabani too much for dad

-

MATSAPHA – Silindile Makhanya claimed she never asked her father about the accident because she did not want to frustrate him further after she saw what was being said under the #JusticeForThabani movement.

The witness made this statement after Lawyer Mangaliso Nkomondze asked that after feeling that her family needed protection, did she ask her father what happened during the accident.

In response, she submitted that she did not ask her father and there was a reason. She claimed that on the day of the accident, they were preparing for a funeral at home, but she was not there.

The lawyer said that was understandable, but highlighted that she had told the coroner that as she interacted with people and read social media posts, some fear grew within her.

Innocent

He then asked her why she did not ask her father after some time so that if someone asked her about the accident, she could tell him/her that he was innocent.

“I did not want to frustrate him further because he was seeing what was being said under the #JusticeForThabani tag,” she responded. Thereafter, the lawyer told the witness that he was having a problem with her because she was allegedly denying something simple; like that the police came to look for her father. He asked when exactly the police came to look for her father. In response, the witness claimed that she did not remember, but supposed it was on the day the body of Nkomonye had been found.

The lawyer also asked if the witness was present when the police arrived and she responded to the positive and highlighted that they allegedly came in the morning hours. She alleged that she did not recall how many times they came to see her father.
