MBABANE – 2015 Francophonie rap competition winner is back with a bang!

This is none other than ‘R.K’ whose real name is Ndzabaletimnandzi Mngomezulu; a 24 yearold liSwati and aspiring musician. The rapper recently released his latest single titled ‘My Life’ which is available on all digital music streaming platforms.

The song was released last Friday, but it has garnered over 1 300 streams on Spotify alone. The song was produced by J. Kishi, who is from Atlanta, Georgia in the United States of America (USA). The pair already have a joint single out on all digital platforms titled ‘Hydrate’ and have yet to be released.

His influence comes from various genres with hip-hop at the core. His favourite artists include Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole and others outside of mainstream such as Hiatus Kaiyote and Bonobo. With over 10 projects (solo and featured) under his belt and a growing presence in the local rap scene, ‘R.K.’ is only getting started, and he’s here to stay.

Achievements

Apart from winning the Francophonie 2015 Rap Competition that got him to perform at the MTN BUSHFIRE Festival in the same year, he also performed at numerous events in the city of Shenyang, China as well as his home country. He then released a collaboration project ‘Still Thinking About It’ in 2019 with longtime music partner R4GE which was received well judging from the number of downloads.

‘R.K. also won last year’s Lockdown Cypher 2020 and went on to release his highly acclaimed project ‘The Cool EP Vol 1 and 2’ in the same year.

The lyrically gifted young rapper is currently recording new music with artists such as Bluujay,

Cha boy, Wigo as well as hip-hop veteran Lution AudioBot.

In an interview with ‘R.K,’ he said his latest release was motivated by where he was in life and his current state of mind.

“Another musician I met over the internet last year was Lution AudioBot. He and I have been meaning to meet in person and ever since doing so, we’ve been actively at work on music I can’t wait for you to hear.

His knowledge, wisdom, and selflessness makes him one of the best people I could ever work with. We pass creative ideas to one another and continue to sharpen each other’s skills through collaboration and teamwork. I’m truly honoured that our paths crossed,” he concluded.
