‘Wife looted funds from business’

-

MBABANE - “She looted funds from our businesses which she used to build a house at her parental home.”

Pastor Sikhumbuzo Shongwe made these allegations in his plea where he wants the court to dismiss the application for divorce filed by his wife Jabulile Nkonyane

He alleged that without her knowledge, Jabulile deserted the marital home without giving any reason.

“She actually went to stay at her parental home at Sihhoye in a house she had maliciously constructed behind my back using funds looted from my business where I had employed her as a store manager,” alleged Shongwe.

These are allegations whose veracity is still to be tested in court.

Truth

Shongwe went on to tell the court that his wife was being economic with the truth and that could be deduced from her failure to mention the names of family members she sought intervention from.

According to Jabulile, intervention from family members did not assist as her husband did not change his ways.

Jabulile is also claiming that during the subsistence of their marriage, Shongwe had been involved in extramarital affairs with different woman,”

She further alleged that her cousin Hloniphile Ndzinisa confessed to the adulterous relationship with Shongwe. The plaintiff (Jabulile) also brought it to the attention of the court that her husband was allegedly renting a flat for Hloniphile at Madonsa.

“The defendant’s (Shongwe) behaviour and conduct is an indication that he does not want to be part of the marriage. The relationship between us has broken down irretrievably, as the defendant has shown his intention of wanting out of the marriage,” contended Jabulile.

Divorce

She is now praying for an order for a final decree of divorce and that her husband should retain all matrimonial assets. Jabulile is also praying for an order directing that her husband should contribute half of her costs in the matter. The plaintiff further wants the court to give her custody of the children and that Shongwe be awarded visitation rights. The pastor is currently out on bail after he was arrested for allegedly shooting Jabulile several times at their rented flat in Moneni, Manzini.

The pastor is facing two counts of attempted murder. He is alleged to have fired shot and injured Jabulile Nkonyane, on August 22, 2021 at their residence, near Tisuka Houses. He is alleged to have shot Nkonyane five times in various parts of the body.

In the second charge, he is alleged to have intentionally attempted to kill Thabiso Mlahleki by shooting him with a pistol once in the left arm.
