Why attempt suicide, murder

-

Sir,

Love is a very natural feeling; no matter how much you may try to suppress it or deny it, love prevails. Unfortunately with the way things are going; with the way life has become so mechanical and easily manipulated, as long as you keep pressing the right buttons, love is sadly misunderstood to say the least.

I am always saddened by reports of ‘crimes of passion’ as they constantly prove that we still don’t understand the true meaning of love. We seem to get into a rage and frustration when we feel that our love is not being reciprocated. Many a times we find ourselves stuck in loveless marriages in the name of ‘love’. We find ourselves going the extra mile trying to make this love thing work for us.

Measures

Unfortunately we find ourselves engaging in things that we never imagined ourselves doing, but alas, in the name of love; desperate times call for desperate measures. Maybe it would not be as bad if whatever drastic measures we were taking to ensure that our love is reciprocated works; the problem is when all our efforts prove to be futile. You have tried everything under the sun but it is just not working - this person does not love you the way you would like to be loved.

Why is it that we claim to be overcome by emotions and can’t think straight hence we commit these crimes of passion? Why do we attempt suicide or even entertain thoughts of murder?

Power

Don’t we have the power to control the situation? Can we not handle this heartbreak more constructively? The answer is simple; you have all the power to act and react. Your actions in response to love gone wrong will be a manifestation of your thoughts.

Ability

You and only you have the power and ability to create your thoughts. For your sake and others; choose constructive thoughts despite the destructive situation. You are the master of your own destiny; learn to love yourself more.

Decision

Sometimes it’s our decisions that lead us into dilemmas; the feeling that someone cast an evil spell. The sad part is that when making decisions we don’t know that in the end they will bring misery. Therefore, choose happiness over everything, enjoy life to the fullest while it lasts. A philosopher, Rainer Maria Rilke, once alluded; “There are no classes in life for beginners; right away you are always asked to deal with what’s most difficult.” Hope is what keeps us going; it is what keeps our heads high. Don’t give up on hope because that is where your closure is.

Sir,

A while back I read a letter titled ‘Manzini-Nhlangano road mess’ and I was touched. I cannot keep quiet because it has been many months now and no one is taking action concerning the state of this road.

The road seems to be stuck in a time warp and I am one of the frequent users of that road.

It’s genuinely a derelict zone indeed because it now takes three hours trying to reach Nhlangano.

Busiest

It goes without saying that this tarmac is one of the busiest ones in the country as it is from the epicentre of the country. It is frustrating to find numerous disastrous potholes along the way.

Vehicle owners are expected to have roadworthy cars while the potholes dominate the route. We cannot get delayed by the traffic police and the potholes concurrently.

We cannot deny that the situation is being exacerbated each day because the torrential rains have begun.

With liquor on sale of late, the potholes are bound to add to the high rate of accidents in the country after our citizens imbibe alcohol and drive on it on a daily basis.

Concerns

Amid growing concerns of COVID-19, the nation is working against the clock as the year 2022 approaches.

Back to the subject matter, I believe that the government of this country should communicate to the relevant ministry about the state of this road.

The ministry should beat the clock as we get closer to the busier days of the year, where we will be receiving visits from tourists, hopefully, despite the continuing of the infamous COVID 19 pandemic.
