Council rakes in over E1m in 13min
MBABANE - A 10-tonne Man Tipper Truck was sold for at least five times its reserve price.
It is a runner but needs attention in the gear box. This transpired during a hotly-contested Municipal Council of Mbabane public auction which was held at the main depot just outside Mbabane yesterday. The truck had a reserve price of E100 000 but after a competitive bid, it was sold for E500 000. It was the most expensive item sold on the day.
This Intel laptop was sold for E3 000. The reserve price was E500.
Grabs
There was another 10-tonne Man Tipper Truck up for grabs. It was a non-runner and its injector pump needed attention. It had a reserve price of E90 000 but it was eventually sold for E386 000.
Completing the list of vehicles for sale were two Nissan Hardbody 2000i light duty vehicles. They were both runners, with one having a canopy. The highest bid (E90 000) was for the one with the canopy while the other one was sold for E65 000.
In essence, all four vehicles were sold in 13 minutes for slightly over E1 million (E1 041 000).

The winning bid for this Nissan Hardbody 2000i was E65 000. The reserve price was E25 000. office equipment and tools also went under the hammer.
Concrete
On sale were laptops, printers, office desk, metal filing cabinets, office chair, bookshelf, steel roof sheets, roofing timber, oil fan heater, water pump, spades, steel round bridge pipes and concrete breaker, among other things.
Among the favourites outside the
From a reserve price of E90 000, this 10-tonne Man Tipper Truck was sold for E386 000. It is a non-runner. vehicles was a concrete breaker which was eventually sold for E5 200 from a reserve price of E300. The cheapest items were two fans which were sold for their reserve price of E50.
The total amount made from the auction could not be immediately ascertained, as it was still underway at the time of compiling this report.
The about 20 bidders who were interested in the vehicles and equipment were made to pay a refundable deposit of E2 000 and E300, respectively.
Sold items are to be removed at the site by the last day of this month.
