MRPA bans 3 teams’ venues

- BY CHRIS DLAMINI

MBABANE – Three clubs under the Manzini Regional Pool Association (MRPA) will have to find new hosting venues.

This follows a ban by the MRPA as of last Saturday following a meeting held in Malkerns, St. John Bosco Primary School.

The ban list had more names but was in the end effective on three pool teams. The latter are Mahlanya, Figaredo and army-based side Phocweni.

A correspondence shared by MRPA Secretary Musa Dlamini reads; “Mahlanya, Figa, Phocweni will have to find hosting venues as their places aren’t convenient to host pool games (sic).”

Explaining the ban, he said it could have easily been more clubs but the others assured they would no longer have the challenges that were leading to their decision.

These are Dixie’s International Pool League champions last season Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS), Ludzeludze and league runners-up Correctional Services.

“Mahlanya have one table which delays games and result to people reaching their places of residence very late than usual. Figaredo has interruptions with drinking people peeping through windows and making noise while the setup is also not good enough, it’s like a home while with Phocweni it’s the inconsistencies on the availability of the venue,” Dlamini explained when questioned about the ban.

Canteen

He said at the Phocweni Army Barracks, they would sometimes be allowed access inside for the canteen pool tables while at times they would not get access and be forced to find

1. Mahlanya Pool Club

2. Phocweni Pool Club

3. Figaredo Pool Club

an alternative venue just outside the barracks to play Phocweni Pool Club.

Meanwhile, he said REPS’ Police Academy in Matsapha was on the list due to the allegedly orchestrated power cuts when results go the other way while with Correctional it was the inconsistency on accessing their two tables but they have also added a third now.

Ludzeludze also added a table to allow more games to play simultaneously. Dlamini concluded by warning all concerned that anyone or sponsors willing to host a tournament to go vie the MRPA office as they had observed some tend to disappear with joining fees and fail to present prizes.
