‘Bull’s SA trip now today

- BY CHRIS DLAMINI

MBABANE – Giants Mbabane Highlanders did not travel to South Africa yesterday as they had earlier anticipated.

The Ezimnyama Ngenkhani ensemble targets catching up for lost time with a preseason camp in Pretoria for at least a week. According to the club, they were due to leave yesterday and return next Wednesday or Thursday. “We didn’t leave after deciding that we keep it local for now,” responded the club’s Secretary Simiso ‘Space’ Jele.

The club’s PRO Mandla Madonsela had said earlier on when questioned about the trip that he was not certain if the team left or not and asked to verify, but was later not answering his cellphone.

While Jele said the trip was off for now, information gathered from some players was that there were some logistics that needed to be completed first. “We could leave tomorrow (today),” said one of the contacted players.

Another player also confirmed they could not leave yesterday because they were given a day off after taking the COVID-19 Johnson and Johnson jab this past Wednesday afternoon at the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Technical Centre, Lobamba. “We were told we’ll leave tomorrow (today),” said another player.

It is understood they will play a series of friendly games with Ally’s Tigers who have always been part of the club’s preseason games since South African Director Chief Ally Kgomongwe took over in 2019 where he announced his arrival with the Eswatini Telecom Charity Cup triumph.

Efforts to get a comment from the head coach Ernest Mavuso, or director Ally Kgomongwe proved futile yesterday.
