- BY PHOLSILE HLOPHE

MBABANE – Tambankulu Callies Football Club have announced Zimbabwean gaffer Ikarbort Macocha as their head coach for the 2021/2022 season.

This was confirmed by the newly appointed club Public Relations Officer (PRO) Mnotfo Nkosi, who was appointed to the position following the departure of former PRO Nomfundo ‘Mercy’ Nhlengetfwa, who found a new home with first division side Nsingizini Hot Spurs. Nkosi said the coach was already in the country and started preseason training with the team about a month ago.

“I can confirm that Ikarbort Macocha is our new coach. He has been training the players since his arrival a month ago. We were newcomers last season and it was a tight competition for us. We believe that he has all it takes to take the team to a high level this MTN Premier League season,” Nkosi said.

Finalized

Nkosi said contractual terms for the new coach had not been finalised due to club Chairman Sithembiso ‘Ngudze’ Mamba being out of the country on business commitments.

“We expect our boss to be back tomorrow (today) and that is when we will meet with the Management Committee to discuss the terms of his contracts,” Nkosi said.

Meeting

Efforts to get a comment from Macocha were in vain as his phone rang unanswered as he was reportedly engaged in a meeting with the team until this publication went to print last night.

Meanwhile, the club chairman also confirmed the new coach.

“There is no comment for now until he signs the contract we are still working around his documents,” Mamba said briefly.
