Pupil apologises for posting teacher’s pic
MBABANE – A 19-yearold pupil from Zombodze National High School has come out to apologise to his teacher for posting her picture on social media and claiming that she was one of the reasons that pupils were protesting.
In an interview with the pupil, he said he regretted his actions, adding that the teacher had never said anything that would have triggered pupils to protest.
He said putting the teacher’s picture on social media was wrong as she started receiving threats from people accusing her of something that she had not done.
Admit
“I admit to posting her picture and the police also mentioned that the effect would have been less if I had not posted her picture,” he said.
In a conversation with the pupil’s mother, who was initially reluctant to have her son issue the apology, she eventually said this was something that she had heard from another pupil and statements were already taken by the police.
She said she learnt that the Head Teacher of Zombodze
National High School Bheki Zwane also appreciated the gesture.
“I would like to come out and say that I am very sorry for tainting her reputation as she has worked hard for everything she has for several years. I truly apologise and I hope she will find it in her heart to forgive me,” said the pupil.
Nicknames
The head teacher he said they saw the post on social media and because people at times use different names and nicknames they initially were not sure who had posted it. Zwane said they also felt that the post was in bad taste and was a disappointment to the school, but more especially the teacher.
“I think it is a good move for him to apologise to the teacher and we greatly appreciate and condone such positive action of apologising,” said Zwane.
When this reporter asked for the teachers contacts to get a comment the head teacher said they preferred to protect the teacher in this matter as she was the one who had been a victim.
“We would like to protect the teacher and I will speak on her behalf and say that we appreciate the apology,” he added.
