Man accused of killing girlfriend’s lover, arrested

MANZINI – A man allegedly killed his girlfriend’s lover after he found them together.

Wandile ‘Hardy’ Maziya, 23, of Sicelwini under Chief Nkosini was charged with murder and he appeared for a confession at the Manzini Magistrate­s Court.

It is alleged that Maziya killed Menzi Mamba by stabbing him with a knife once in the neck, resulting in the latter’s death.

According to impeccable sources, the accused in his confession allegedly said that he had found Mamba with his partner before and they talked about it such that they concluded that the relationsh­ip between Mamba and his girlfriend should be ended.

Relationsh­ip

It was alleged that following their talks, it was agreed that the relationsh­ip would end. However, on Sunday, Maziya came back and found the pair inside a house together.

It was supposed that following this, an altercatio­n ensued wherein it was said Mamba insulted him. Thereafter, it was claimed that Maziya stabbed Mamba.

The confession is yet to be formally presented as court evidence.

Following his confession, Maziya appeared for his remand wherein his rights to legal representa­tion were explained to him and he opted to defend himself.

The Crown asked the court to have the blood specimen of Maziya to be taken for further investigat­ion. The accused did not object to this. He was then remanded in custody until November 10, 2021.

Arrested

This made it the second murder to be committed in the Manzini Region as a businessma­n was arrested for murder after he allegedly assaulted an associate.

Mbongeni Wakhile Msibi, 28, of Dvudvusini was accused of killing Petros Dlamini after he assaulted him with a blunt object all over the body. The incident was said to have happened at Mankayane on Saturday.

According to impeccable sources, the murder happened supposedly after a heated argument between the pair over a missing automobile battery. It was alleged that items had been disappeari­ng at the garage and at this instance, Msibi purportedl­y asked the Dlamini about the missing item.
