Dixie’s Pool League kick-off Saturday

- BY CHRIS DLAMINI

MBABANE – It’s league action time for the Manzini Regional Pool Association (MRPA).

As they now have their 12man squad for the National Play-offs team ready but must wait for the two other affiliated regions. Lubombo and Hhohho to also submit their teams, they have shifted focus to their rich Dixie’s International E30 000 League, which enters its 4th edition.

“It is now these 12 players who will fight to be in the senior men’s national squad from the Manzini Regional Pool Association. They played the last stage on Sunday,” MRPA Secretary Musa Dlamini said.

He said due to the fact that they had to wait for their colleagues in Hhohho and Lubombo before the national play-offs resumed, they had to start their league.

“We wish that everything goes well for us to kick off the Dixie’s League this weekend. We’re doing all we can to ensure all teams are ready for the league start,” he said.

He said they would definitely release the league’s opening fixtures by tomorrow if all went according to their wishes. Should the league be able to resume, it will mean defending champions Royal Eswatini Police

Pool Club (REPS) starting their title defence.

The onus will be on their rivals to stop the star-studded side who had good battle with runners-up Correctional Services and third-place finishers, Way Inn last season. Meanwhile, each region was also expected to submit female players which saw the list hit 16 players, for the BOAB Ladies National Play-offs.

The ladies had been due to play at Correctional Services a fortnight ago but due to political unrest in the country, the games were shifted to Saturday.
