‘Flamingo’ invited to Germany coaching course

- BY LWAZI DLAMINI

MBABANE – Former Eswatini international Mpumelelo ‘Flamingo’ Gamedze continues to empower himself on the coaching front.

The former Sihlangu midfielder has been invited by the Berlin Football Association for a course to be held in Berlin, Germany from January7-18, 2022.

The course known as German A Level coaching course would be conducted by 10 instructors and only 14 participants had been invited.

Gamedze confirmed the invitation yesterday.

“The deadline for payments and registration is this week and I am interested in attending the course as it can help me a lot. I would really appreciate any assistance to help me realise my dream of getting another coaching badge by attending this coaching course,’’ Gamedze said. Gamedze, who owns a Youth Academy in Pretoria, South Africa, had just started pursuing his CAF Coaching Licence when it had to be suspended due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Yes I am still a coach and yes, I would want to pursue my coaching career, even getting my coaching badges. This CAF Coaching Licence suspension was a big blow for me personally because I had done phase 1 of the course but we were told will be notified to come back and complete it but we are still waiting to hear from SAFA,’ he said.

Passionate

Gamedze said having seen how passionate the late Midas City owner Rueben ‘Skwaya’ Gwebu was about youth development, it propelled him to travel the same road.

“I learnt a lot from Gwebu, Gcina ‘Magiyane’ Dlamini and Morris Simelane at Rovers. This is what I am passionate about,’ he said.
