Over 100 kids bene it from Dups Holdings donation
MBABANE – Dups Holdings recently donated personal hygiene supplies to the Illa Penboy Foundation and these have benefitted over 100 children.
According to the well-known artist and philanthropist Illa Penboy, whose real name is Sifiso Ndlangamandla, the donation was received at a critical time when COVID-19 was still rife.
“With a high number of under privileged families, one wonders how they were coping during the pandemic. The Illa Penboy Foundation chose to assist mostly children because they are young and immature to provide for themselves,” he said.
He disclosed that the hygienic supplies helped the beneficiaries to reduce the spread of the virus by regular washing of hands as advised by the Ministry of Health.
“Normally, our distribution to the beneficiaries is through care points and soup kitchens, where the children convene on selected days to get food and other supplies prepared for them.
“The foundation also prepared food parcels for needy families that we know of through referrals. The hygienic supplies were an addition to such parcels,” Ndlangamandla stated.
He expressed great appreciation to Dups Holdings for the generosity shown to the underprivileged.
He further noted that the donation came at the right time to provide for the needy families and especially children.
Beneficiaries
He said such a gesture would be forever remembered by the beneficiaries, adding that his foundation always declared to the beneficiaries the sources of assistance.
“It is every organisation’s obligation to demonstrate social responsibility and Dups Holdings has led by example through social investment to the people of Eswatini, especially to a course that benefits children,” indicated Illa Penboy.
The artist further observed that the Dups brand was popular to many for recognising the need to remain socially responsible, especially through its support for the youth.
“Going forward, the Illa Penboy Foundation wishes to have long- term collaboration with Dups Holdings because there is a number of less fortunate children in different parts of the country. They cannot support themselves, hence the need for constant support until they can be selfsufficient.
Meanwhile Dups Holdings Chairperson Nelly De Sousa spoke joyfully of how their business has assisted the underprivileged emaSwati over the years.
Commitment
She re-affirmed Dups Holdings’ commitment to helping the less fortunate and doing it with passion.
De Sousa emphasised that their main drive as a business was ensuring that the underprivileged received help where possible.
Dups Holdings is not doing this because it looks good, but out of the belief that above anything else, giving back nurtures, repairs and sustains societies.
Finally, we trust that every form of giving that we involve ourselves with will go a long way in society. We also believe that in this form of giving comes as a responsibility on the part of those who channel the generosity into action,” she said.
Hopeful
De Sousa also assured that they were hopeful of more partnerships with other charity organisations to ensure that they continued to be of service to the country in years to come.
On the other hand, the General Manager Sasha De Sousa pointed out that the bath soaps would ensure that the beneficiaries enjoyed a hygienic environment, which is one of the crucial aspects in the healthy living of every human being.
“I am confident that this donation will be distributed accordingly and best serve the beneficiaries. I hope this donation plays a part in the battle against the pandemic.
“As the saying goes, a journey of a thousand miles begins with small steps,” she said.
