- BY SETSABILE NKAMBULE

MBABANE – The Sibebe Resort has ‘rocked’ the ‘Giving Sanitary Towels To The Girl Child’ campaign with a donation of pads worth E1000.

This initiative by the Times of Eswatini was inspired by comedian ‘Dr Shakes’, and is meant to ensure that the girl child in the kingdom had a three months’ supply of sanitary pads.

According Sibebe Resort Communications Officer, Larry Mhlanga, the resort decided to join the campaign as they had noticed the impact it had on the girl child in the kingdom. He said the campaign was a good initiative that would be of assistance to a lot of girls who were less privileged.

“Sibebe Resort did not think twice when taking the decision to join in the campaign. This is because the resort prioritises women and their well-being. We could not let the opportunity pass us by which is why we have decided to grab the opportunity with both hands,” he said.

Mhlanga expressed that with the donation, they hoped that young women and girls would not miss appointments or school because of the lack of sanitary towels.

He said he also hoped that the initiative would inspire other companies to be of assistance to more emaSwati. Mhlanga assured emaSwati that the resort would continue assisting through more corporate social investment (CSI) projects which they had been working on.

He then urged more businesses to to join in and support the initiative.

Sibebe Resort is located in Mbabane Pine Valley Road,9.8 km from the Mbabane Central Business District.

The initiative of the sanitary pads campaign was inspired by comedian ‘Dr Shakes’ who on his birthday decided to celebrate by donating 136 sanitary towels to the girl child.

Currently, companies who are part of the campaign include the Times of Eswatini, Puma Filling Station, Mbabane, SifisoSethu Hydraulics Engineering and Sibebe Resort.

Companies are urged to join the campaign by also donating sanitary pads.
