MBABANE - Three men have admitted to having broken into Mbabane Extra Shine Tyres and stealing of a cash drawer.

They are Linda Dlamini (21) of Sigombeni, Mduduzi Hlatshwako (32) of Sigombeni and Sakhile Gadlela (22) of Hluti. The trio was also accused of stealing money amounting to E1 000 from the shop.

However, when informed of the charge, they denied having stolen the money.

The Crown applied that they be remanded pending trial on April 8, 2022.

The Crown also submitted that it was not opposed to a bail application. The trio then applied that they be released on bail. Gadlela submitted that he was preparing to apply for enrollment at BSA Training Centre in Motshane.

“The court has considered that you are denying the second count. Is that so?” Magistrate Xolile Nxumalo asked the trio.

Confirmed

In response, the trio confirmed their assertion. They were granted bail fixed at E2 000 each on condition that they did not interfere with State witnesses while out on bail.

They were also warned to attend all remands and hearings whenever ordered to do so.

Meanwhile, in the same court, a pupil appeared charged with the theft of a cellphone valued at E7 000. Asked why he stole the cellphone, the pupil claimed that he was compelled by his family circumstances. *Simo claimed that he needed the gadget as it was now a requirement at school.

Nxumalo asked if the gadget was really a need or the pupil just admired it.

“I live with my unemployed sister who cannot afford to buy me the gadget. My father lives at his workplace in Bhunya and my mother passed away,” the pupil told the court. The pupil revealed this after Magistrate Xolile Nxumalo had asked him a few

question to ascertain the truth of the matter. Nxumalo sentenced the pupil to four months imprisonment with the option to pay a fine of E700.

The judicial officer also observed that the cellphone

was damaged. She asked the pupil if he was aware of the damage to the gadget. “Tell your father to pay for the damages,” she said after the pupil had acknowledged the damages.
