Sea Birds could go top with a win at Milling

-

SATURDAY: HOTSPURS VS SEA BIRDS VENUE: KALANGA TECHNICAL CENTRE: KICK-OFF TIME: 3PM

LIKE a turtle, which buries its head in the sand only to resurface at some point and then everybody exclaims ‘WOW’! That is the story of the unfashionable Manzini Sea Birds who are punching above their weight this season.

The hub side is lying on the third spot, having accumulated an impressive 23 points out of a possible 33 and sneaking behind almost unnoticed to raise their hands too in

the race for the E200 000 first round carrot. Unbeknown to many, Christian Thwala’s charges could actually go on top on Saturday by 6pm if they managed to claim their eighth win of the season at the expense of the relegation-fighting Milling Hotspurs. In captain Muzi Tsabedze and Mthokosizi Gwebu they have two lethal strikers who have

scored 15 goals in between them with the eight other goals shared among the rest of the scorers in the team.

It is the kind of ammunition Milling will face on Saturday at KaLanga Tehcnical Centre.

To their credit, Milling has somehow stopped the rot as they are undefeated in the last five games and even won two games in a row after a traumatic start to the season.

While the continuation of club chairman Sabelo Mavimbela continues to keep the rumour-mill on overdrive, the Manzini side has slowly moved away from the relegation murky waters to position eleven on the log standings.

With the prospects of moving on top for only the second time this season, Sea Birds would not want to let the opportunity slip away by subjecting Milling to their sixth defeat of the season.
