MBABANE – Pick n Pay Lojaf has captured the hearts of the girl child through a donation of sanitary pads worth E3 000.

The donation was towards the life-changing initiative, ‘Giving Sanitary Towels To The Girl Child’ campaign which was inspired by popular comedian Dr Shakes.

According to General Manager Mario Fernanders, Pick n Pay prided itself in being of assistance to emaSwati.

He said the decision to join the campaign came after seeing the impact it had on girls in the kingdom.

He said such campaigns gave them the opportunity to be of assistance to people they would have not been able to reach.

“We are happy to have been able to grab this opportunity and use it to touch people’s lives, people we would may not have reached. We are hopeful that it would assist women even if it was only for a period of three months,” he said.

He said he also hoped that it would give the girl child confidence and the opportunity of not missing out on life due to being on their menstrual periods.

He said he also hoped that the initiative would be inspirational and encourage others to help where they could.

He mentioned that they had other corporate social investment (CSI) projects they embarked on every year. He then urged more businesses to join the initiative

The initiative of the sanitary pads campaign was inspired by comedian Dr Shakes who on his birthday decided to celebrate by donating 136 sanitary towels to the girl child.

Currently, companies who are part of the campaign include the Times of Eswatini, Puma Filling Station, Mbabane, SifisoSethu Hydraulic Engineering , Sibebe Resort and Pick n Pay.

Companies are urged to join the campaign by also donating sanitary pads.

To be part of the life-changing initiative, interested companies should contact Tlalane Dlamini on 7638 5370.
