It’s not over yet – Ex-‘Bull’s Ernest

-

The former Moneni Pirates coach was suspended before the game against Vovovo last week Sunday which also saw Highlanders lose by 0-1 for the first time this season.

In reaction to his axing, which some fans, even outside the Highlanders camp criticised for the manner it was done or the words used by the club’s Director, Chief Ally Kgomongwe that he was like a rented coach yet they wanted someone full-time, Mavuso expressed his discontentment.

Unpaid

If his words are anything to go by, he is likely to return to court for the second time in less than 12 months as he also took Pirates to court and won the case over his unpaid salary. His letter of dismissal, like several others before him, was signed by Jele standing in for the director. Another letter dismissing a coach signed by Jele was that of the late Thabo ‘Koki’ Vilakati among others including the most recent coaches to be with the club under Kgomongwe and some players like Punch Masenamela and Josef Lekata among others.

“I feel the way I was told was unprofessional. However, I would not like to delve much into it since we have few issues to iron out before this matter is settled,” Mavuso said before making it clear in an a recorded audio that he was taking the legal route but did not give out details.

He said he was happy that the team gave him a chance to express his coaching philosophy and was hoping to take the ‘Black Bull’ to greater heights. He highlighted that it was wonderful working with the players and the technical bench but an unfortunate administrative incident led to him leaving the team. Mavuso had not had a good working relationship with Kgomongwe since he was brought into the team last season.

Ironically, Highlanders were due to play Mbabane Swallows when he rejoined the team and lost the derby and now the same fixture is due, he gets the axe. Even before the Vovovo clash, Kgomongwe had a gripe with his absence at training last Tuesday morning when the coach was in school as he is a teacher at Swazi National High and school reopened on January 11.

Meanwhile, the team boss replaced Mavuso with a South African coach, former Sekhukhune United’s Selaotse ‘Sly’ Mosala, who he unveiled on Thursday at the team’s clubhouse in Ezulwini at Goje Township. The former TS Sporting gaffer’s first assignment will be the biggest game in local football and attracts interest in various parts of the world, especially emaSwati.
