MTN League top four collide in title race

MBABANE – The MTN Premier League is likely to be decided on Wednesday when the top four title chasers face-off. It is leaders and defending champions Royal Leopard taking on second-placed Mbabane Highlander­s next Wednesday afternoon at KaLanga Technical Centre, kick off is 2:45pm.

Both teams have games to play this afternoon under Week 26 of the league, Leopard are home to Tambuti at Mhlume Stadium, Highlander­s also home to Malanti Chiefs at KaLanga Technical Centre, while third-placed Mbabane Swallows who have a date with Young Buffaloes next Wednesday first must rid of Tambankulu Callies this afternoon at King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium in Nhlangano to keep their hopes alive. Leopard are top of the table with 58 points, level with Highlander­s who have an inferior goal difference, placing them on second.

According to the fixtures released by the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Chief Operations Officer (COO) Pat Vilakati, all the fixtures under Week 27 would be played next Wednesday.

The match between Swallows and Buffaloes is billed for King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium.

‘The Birds’ are a point ahead of Young Buffaloes and they must increase their chances of keeping the pace by winning their game today against Tambankulu Callies at King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium. Buffaloes play Denver Sundowns this afternoon at Mayaluka Stadium. The four teams are not only battling for the title but the two spots for the Confederat­ion of African Football (CAF) interclubs tournament­s slots.
