- BY MTHUNZI MAZIYA

MBABANE – The Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Trade, Manqoba Khumalo yesterday said entrepreneurship is the only vehicle through which the country could realise its full economic potential.

The minister spoke through Small and Medium Enterprises’ Director Mluleki Dlamini during the official opening of the Junior Achievement (JA) summit at the Divine Healing Ministries in Manzini. The summit continues until Friday.

Khumalo said the summit came at the right time when the country was looking at reviving its economy. He noted that, the theme speaks to innovation, which is what government was looking to support in order to foster economic growth.

“The government is on a mission to support such interventions, so that we ensure that Eswatini recovers from the challenges that we have faced recently,” he said.

The minister further stated that it was encouraging to see the public and private sector come together to offer leadership and support to young brilliant minds. He said, through such support, young minds will have the platform to put into fruition their creativity and contribute positively to economic growth.

Applauded

Speaking on behalf of the partners, Development Finance Corporation (FINCORP)’s Managing Director, Dumsani Msibi applauded JA Eswatini for initiative, saying there was no doubt that the future of the country was in the hands of young people. He said their desire to participate in business was encouraging.

“It is, therefore, our responsibility as JA partners to join forces with JA to ensure that we create an enabling environment for youth to achieve their full potential. It is only through this, that their contribution to economic growth can be realised,” he said. The JA summit continues at the Divine Healing

Ministries, starting from 9am until 3pm, until Friday.

Attend

JA’s Siphesihle Mkhonta invited all young people to attend the event and network with the best leaders in industry and access opportunities for personal growth.

“This would be a yearly event that seeks to empower them whilst creating synergies for youth businesses,” she said.
