MBABANE – It was fun all the way for some children at Lonhlupheko community as they experienced tennis for the first time.
The children gathered for various sporting activities and fun games last Saturday, as the community held a clean-up and youth empowerment campaign that was successful.
The clean-up campaign later included fun games like Tennis, Tug-of-war, Handball and Dance.
“The Mhlume Tennis Club players had displayed their nets and were teaching all community members who showed interest in the sport,” a source and tennis official said.
He also said the children had a field day as they showed excitement
LOBAMBA – The Lobamba Juniors League returns to action, thanks to All Out Africa’s E50 000 sponsorship.
All Out Africa’s partnership with the Lobamba Juniors League dates 10 years back and they have injected over E500 000 in the past decade.
The sponsorship launch was held yesterday afternoon at the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Technical Centre in Lobamba.
All Out Africa’s representative Micheal Mkhonta expressed delight in reviving the juniors’ league, that has been inactive for nearly two years following the suspension of sport activities due to the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020.
Mkhonta appealed to the junior clubs to be solution driven through collaboration and support in order to contribute positively to the development of football from grassroots level.
“We are pleased to once again, come forth with sponsorship for the Lobamba
Juniors League that we have partnered with for over 10 years now. To the teams; let us desist from seeking to find fault in one another but work together to elevate the standard of football from the foundation that has been laid, “Mkhonta said.
Lobamba Juniors League Competitions Committee (CC) Secretary Mehluli Ndlela described the sponsorship launch as the beginning of exciting times.
“We have a history with All Out Africa and we are grateful that they saw it fit to sponsor the juniors once again. For us, this marks the beginning of exciting times and more to come,” Ndlela said.
Registration
The league is expected to resume before the end of May after the registration period. It will also cater for the Under-17s, who started playing from the Under-10 back in 2014 .The Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Frederick Mngomezulu said the decline in COVID-19 cases meant that the juniors could return to action.
“We believe that we are at a stage where the juniors can fully return to the game of football. The Hhohho Regional Football Association (HRFA) has a task to ensure that the competition is run smoothly so that the next edition is better than the previous one. We will be keeping a close eye, not to lookout for faults, but to see if the standards are maintained,” Mngomezulu
said.
Also present were HRFA executive members including the Vice Chairperson Simon Vilakati, EFA Executive Member Sipho Kunene and HRFA Board Member Oscar Mlotshwa.
