EFA’s E60k Macron kit for refs

- BY MACHAWE FAKUDZE

MBABANE – The Eswatini Football Association (EFA) has dressed up elite league referees with a E60 000 Macron kit.

The kit was presented to the Eswatini Referees Association (ERA) by EFA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Fredrick Mngomezulu yesterday at Sigwaca House. ERA Secretary General (SG), Mbongeni Shongwe and Chairman, Jabulani Motsa were present to receive the kit.

Mngomezulu said referees played an important role in football in all divisions, stressing on the need for them to look good while executing their job.

“As EFA years back, we made it our habit that we dress the referees so that they can look smart when doing this important job, as even the teams do look good inside the field of play. As the mother body of local football today, we are presenting the kit for the referees,” Mngomezulu said.

He said as EFA they were hopeful that the kit would encourage the referees to do their job well and it would enhance their image while working in the field.

“We acquired a top of the range kit for them as you can all see that it is from Macron which they will use this year with the hope that next year we will present yet another kit with different colours from this,” he said.

The CEO said the reason the kit arrived at this stage of the 2021/22 MTN Premier League season was due to the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“As we know that the league in the country started in November, it was our wish that by the time it commenced the kit was readily available for the referees,” he said.

He also said that the referees were lucky to receive the equipment towards the end of the season as the time would be shorter before receiving a new kit.

He also urged the ERA and the referees to take good care of the kit to maintain their good images even next season with it.

Meanwhile, ERA Chairman Jabulani Motsa thanked EFA for the kind gesture and promised that as referees they would take good care of it.

“I would like to thank EFA for the kit as this is not the first time they have done this for us,” Motsa said.
