SWALIMO disputes fraudulent practices
MBABANE – The Swaziland Liberation Movement (SWALIMO) has disputed allegations of fraudulent practices within the organisation.
The political movement was reacting to allegations levelled against members of its National Executive Committee, which were published by online media publications. The allegations will not be repeated since they were not verified as authentic by this publication.
SWALIMO, through the office of its Secretary General (SG) Dr. Siphetfo Dlamini, stated that the allegations were meant to scandalise the organisation and tarnish its image. He said the movement was a tolerant organisation which was dedicated to work with other political entities in peace.
He challenged those who were alleging fraudulent practices within its leadership to show proof of such before making such allegations public.
“SWALIMO has noted with great concern the prevailing attacks towards the movement and its leadership on media platforms presenting various unfounded allegations, including accusations of fraudulent practices. These are viewed as intending to portray the movement and its members as intolerant to other political organisations, which is not the case,” said Dlamini.
The general secretary further stated
that the organisation was willing to work with members of the media to ensure that their rights were not infringed. However, Dlamini mentioned that they were not going to tolerate unfounded allegations published for purposes of maliciously damaging the image of their organisation.
He called upon members of the media to verify with his office all information before publishing it. He said the organisation was ready to defend its image and prove to the world that it represented the will of the people.
MOVEMENT
“SWALIMO wishes to put on record that the movement holds the media in high regard, considering the role it plays in society and particularly in the liberation struggle for the country, and do not intend to interfere with the work of the Fourth Estate. However, it is within our responsibility as an organisation to correct any fabrications that are perpetuated by the media when it becomes necessary, especially any form of reporting seemingly aimed at bullying SWALIMO into assuming a particular political posture fa
