Eswatini, Africa this is for you - Pearl after IBA election
Dlamini is currently sitting in IBAWomen Commission as an EC member and in African Boxing Confederation (AFBC) as an EC member and in AFBC again as Chairperson of the AFBC Women Commission.
The IBA Board consists of 18 Directors, including the president, five Confederations presidents, two representatives of the Athletes Committee, and 10 independent directors.
“I have won the International Boxing Association (IBA) elections today (yesterday). I am now one of the 10 Board of Directors. Eswatini this is for you, Africa this is for you. History has been made. Thank you for your prayers. God I give you all the praise and honour,” she wrote on her Facebook wall a few minutes after the victory into the international boxing body.
She gets this when she already is decorated as an administrator in sports through boxing and continues to thrive as Africa put her trust in her and they have been proven right by this election success. Meanwhile, Eswatini Sport and Recreation Council (ESRC) Communications Officer Dumisani Ntiwane has congratulated her on the latest news.
“Congratulations to Dlamini, whose star keeps on shining. She is the first, if our memory serves us well from this side of the region to scoop such a top position,”
He said her victory had surely put Eswatini on the map and wished her well as she executes her duties. Meanwhile, Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Minister Harries ‘Madze’ Bulunga congratulated Dlamini for her historic election.
“Dlamini, a former President of the Eswatini Boxing Association (EBA) and current member of the Eswatini Olympics and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA) Board, is a sports administrator par excellence. Her work in Eswatini sport speaks for itself and has propelled her to this deserved new assignment.
“The ministry congratulates Dlamini on this momentous achievement. This is a victory that should be shared by all in local sport and served as a timely reminder that emaSwati are capable of holding their own in international sport, on the field and off it. Most importantly, it is our hope that Dlamini’s achievement will inspire women serving in various roles in Eswatini sport,” said the minister in a statement yesterday evening.
He further said they wished Dlamini all the best in her new role and ‘it is our hope that she will execute her duties with distinction’, upholding the values of fair play, dedication and honesty.
