Mbabane Quarry (Pty) Ltd for Eswatini Railways tender
MBABANE – Mbabane Quarry (Pty) LTD has been enlisted as the best evaluated tenderer to be granted the over E2 million Eswatini Water Service Cooperation (EWSC) tender.
This was revealed by the Eswatini Public Procurement Regulatory Agency (ESPPRA) on their website.
The tender was awarded to the company on Thursday and they are expected to begin executing it after a period of 10 working days.
According to the regulatory agency, Eswatini Railways was looking for a contractor to supply rail blast.
Rail blast is the iron material used for the construction of railroads.
The blast can be used for double headed rails. These rails are used in the early stages of railroad development.
Rails
They can also be used for bull headed rails and flat footed rails.
The initial proposed contract price of the tender was E2 748 500.
Worth noting is in the past three weeks, small construction companies in the country have acquired over 10 tenders, which were afore granted to big companies.
This is in line with the provision and procurement of tenders in the public procurement regulations, which states that local companies will be granted first preference in the evaluation of tenders in public procurement.
Mbabane Quarry (Pty) Ltd was competing with Purple Dot Pty Ltd for the tender.
The total evaluation score for the companies was not revealed in the tender document, but it was indicated that Purple Dot Pty Ltd was disqualified.
Purple Dot Pty Ltd lost the tender because the company failed to meet the minimum technical score. They scored 48 per cent while Mbabane Quarry (Pty) Ltd scored 83.2 per cent.
Price
It was indicated in the document that this was because Purple Dot (Pty) Ltd’s bid price was not applicable, thus making Mbabane Quarry (Pty) LTD the most favourable company for the tender.
As the requesting entity, Eswatini Railways was also in charge for the procuring of the tender as well as its approvals. ESPPRA requested unsuccessful bidders to submit an application for review with the agency within 10 working days.
“All tenderers who submitted bids are hereby notified that a period of 10 working days is hereby allowed for submission of any application for review,” said ESPPRA.
The agency also mentioned that the over E2 million tender awarded to Mbabane Quarry (Pty) LTD does not constitute a contract.
