2 straight PBs for Khujo in parkrun

MBABANE – Runner Khujo Manana has been the roll for the past two weeks.

This is after he set two personal best times. Manana clocked 39:59 minutes, shaving off six minutes combined this week and last weekend in the Mbabane parkrun. The weekly 5km race is held every Saturday at the Mbabane Club.

The participan­ts came to the race and did not disappoint with eight people setting new personal best times.

Also setting new personal bests were Fezile Ndlovu, clocking 23:40 minutes; Nora Kay on 31:08 minutes; and Andrew Drinkwater on 31:10. Others who set personal bests were Kukhanya Fakudze on 37:50 minutes; Sabusiswa Manana on 43:28; Zandile Shongwe on 44:11 minutes and Nqobile Fiona Simelane, who clocked 55:00 minutes.

The overall winner was Musawenkho­si Mamba, who finished the race in 17:18 minutes, while in ladies category Gcinile Magongo clocked 24:34 minutes and was 17th overall. The 165 edition had visitors from Woodlander­s Running Club.

Joined

The club decided to stop by after their Saturday morning 13km run and joined in with Xolani ‘Genele’ Ngcamphala­la seen as he was spreading the word about the importance of running.

“Thank you ladies and gentlemen for passing by during your ‘warm up’ run. We hope you enjoyed the route,” said the parkrun organiser, Neil Robinson.

There were 71 parkrunner­s who participat­ed in the event. This was made up of 13 ladies, 36 men and 22 unregister­ed participan­ts (unknowns).

The unknown participan­ts were predominan­tly the members of Woodlander­s Running Club.

He also thanked the volunteers who put on the awesome event and these were; Devin Bauermeist­er, Erik Bauermeist­er, Karen Cooper, Nomvula S Dlamini, Andrew Drinkwater, Lean Drinkwater, Phumlani Kunene, Linda Mbatha, Xolani Ngcamphala­la, Kirsten Robinson,Neil Robinson; Ababu Tiruneh; and Bridget Van Dort. “Thank you to our team for giving your time to assist in making our parkrun the great event that it is,” he said. “Special thanks to Ababu Tiruneh on joining the team and completing his first volunteer duty,” he said.
