King promotes Mashikilisana
MANZINI - His Majesty King Mswati III, the Commander-In-Chief of the UEDF, has promoted the newly-appointed Army Commander General (four-star), Moses Hulumende Mashikilisana Fakudze.
This is according to a press statement which was issued by the Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force (UEDF) Public Relations Officer (PRO), Lieutenant Tengetile Khumalo, yesterday afternoon.
In the statement, Khumalo said the commander-in-chief of the army had promoted the UEDF commander from lieutenant general (three-star) to the rank of full general (four-star).
Appointed
She said this happened barely a month after he was appointed as the new army commander.
The PRO said the news of the promotion was delivered by the Principal Secretary (PS) in the Ministry of Defence, Prince Sicalo, at the army headquarters at Nokwane yesterday. She said the news was delivered in the presence of UEDF generals, brigadier commanders and commanding officers of the diverse units and sub-units of the defence force.
According to the army PRO, the PS said Their Majesties were elated with the work ethic of the UEDF commander as the troops worked and performed diligently in all aspects of their duty.
“As we remember that the commander-in-chief appointed General Hulumende Fakudze to lead and unify the defence force, he (His Majesty King Mswati III) has deemed it fit to elevate the UEDF commander to the rank of full general (four-star) ,” the prince was quoted saying when making the announcement.
Diligently
Khumalo added that the prince further mentioned that the commander-in-chief had tasked him to urge all officers and men of the UEDF to continue working diligently while embracing the leadership and vision of the promoted general.
Once more, she said the PS stated that the commander-in-chief had great expectations from the new UEDF commander and the entire defence force. She said the PS added that the King urged the army commander not to falter in doing the good work that he was doing, and that he was anticipating a lot from him.
