NGEVINI – Residents of Ngevini believe that the youth can play a vital role in developing Eswatini.

Speaking at the civic education last Sunday, the residents stated that the country’s youth could take the country to the next level by using their wisdom they obtained from school.

One of the speakers said, wise people were the ones who marketed their country accordingly as opposed to painting a bad picture.

“We did not have an opportunity to go to school but, we have invested in our children’s education so that they can become better people in the future. We expect them to join hands with government and work towards developing the country. They should not speak vile about government and the King,” he said.

He added that, it was unfortunate that some of the youth were only about filing their pockets with money.

The speaker said he had always thought if government accepted the people they elected into Parliament, there should be water across the country to ease agriculture. He said he had thought that government would find them markets.

“We are fighting each other over the sugar cane schemes, because some farmers do not have access to water. May government promote development, by ensuring that we have enough water to run our projects,” said the elderly.

The elderly added that he was hoping that the area’s youth would share the lessons learnt from the civic education.

He said the country needed people who would pass laws that would protect and promote the welfare of emaSwati.

Boundaries

Meanwhile, Timothy Mngometulu asked how the EBC had gone with properly demarcating boundaries across the country.

He stated that the completion of the demarcation of boundaries could play a huge role in ending the ongoing disputes among chiefdoms.

Mngometulu stated that there was an ongoing dispute at Siphofaneni which had resulted in some people not having access to the area. “Maybe your maps can show who owns Siphofaneni,” Mngometulu said.

However, when responding to Mngometulu, EBC Chairman Prince Mhlabuhlangene Dlamini stated that chiefdom boundaries were outside their jurisdiction. Dlamini said the commission only dealt with election boundaries to ensure that emaSwati did not travel long distances to

Centers.
