NGEVINI- “May God appoint a real candidate so that we do not suffer the same fate.”

This was said by a pastor only identified as Ngcamphalala after the close of the civic education at Ngevini Royal Kraal under Siphofaneni Constituency.

Ngcamphalala said it was in their prayer that God intervenes as they prepared to nominate a new candidate to replace their former Member of Parliament Mduduzi ‘Gawuzela’ Simelane.

In vernacular, Ngcamphalala said, “Nkulunkulu siyacela ukhombe longuyena sisalungiselela kuncoma nekukhetsa singaze silunywe yonyoka njengakucala.”

The man of God also prayed for the end terrorism in the country. Simelane was removed as MP after he absented

himself for more than 20 sittings. This was after he had left the country after learning about his imminent arrest.

Interestingly, the man of God prayed after coming hard at the Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) officers for the delay on the starting of the event.

He urged the officers to get to business before they decided to walk out of the hall. “Some of us are on treatment so we cannot spend the whole day without being attended to. We left church for the sake of civic education. Do the right thing before we can be seen as being disrespectful. We are known for respect so the whole world will be shocked to learn that we lost respect,” Ngcamphalala said before he programme director apologised. The civic education progressed well with the residents showing a huge participation. The residents proved a point when asked questions after the lectures. Some residents admitted that they did not make sense of the previous civic education before participating in the 2018 elections.

They also pleaded with the EBC to ensure that ballot papers were stamped before they were given to the elderly. This, they said would reduce the spoiled papers during the counting of votes.

Police officers were also present to monitor the situation.
