MBABANE – The young DJ is taking new heights.
Afro Tech Deejay Mholi Dlamini, known as President (24) was born and raised in Mbabane. He studied at Eswatini College of Technology (ECOT). Dlamini started his Deejaying career back in 2017 at RondeVu. He fell in love with music in his high school days where he started as a beat maker and graduated to producer and DJ.
In his young career, he has already shared the stage with the likes of South African artists namely Mas Musiq, DJ Shimza, Boohle and Young Stunna to mention a few. He has performed in different places locally including Malandela’s, Mega Lounge, Ekhayeni Chillaz, Solani’s Shisanyama and many more. Dlamini has also worked with corporates like Standard Bank, Liberty Life and Mabila Attorneys.
President has focussed in dishing out Afro House/Tech, Hip Hop and Amapiano sounds. In an interview with Dlamini, he said in the industry he didn’t feel like there’s competition, but he sees other fellow DJs as colleagues and peers. “The industry is filled with a lot of talented people I can learn from. At this point I’m happy with where my career is at, however, I am not content. There’s still a lot to explore, a considerable amount of new things to try and a ton of boundaries to push, until then, there’s no rest,’’ he said.
Dlamini further went on to say that locally he’s inspired by The Bishops, Mega Lounge resident DJ Sgitha, ‘Ungenzantoni’ hitmaker AyaCity, Twins of a kind and the best Hip Hop disc jockey Supa CDQ and Drum Rhythm. In South Africa, it is his all-time favourite DJ Shimza.
DJ AyaCity complimented his fellow DJ about his great work. “I have watched him play a couple of times and yeah he’s really dope and he’s coming up well and he’s one for the future. I am humbled and I really appreciate the fact that my work inspires the people around me,” said AyaCity. The DJ is determined to further his career. He mentioned that he looks forward to getting an opportunity where he would play alongside DJ Shimza or attend one of his shows.
