MBABANE – Tambankulu Callies Head Coach, Sifiso ‘Nuro’ Ntibane, has said his players’ mentality needed to be worked on, as they look to seal the fifth in the MTN Premier League.

He said this after watching his team devour Tinyosi 2-1 in a game that was played at the Prince of Wales Sports Ground at the capital city last Sunday.

“We have to work more on the psychological part of the players, as in the first half they were too relaxed. They looked at the log and looked down on the opponents and they just relaxed. When Tinyosi scored their first goal that is when they realised that they are losing and then started playing and dominating positions,” he said.

He also said after going down 1-0, their reaction saw them easily scoring goals because they were now serious than when they started.

“That is why I need to work on their psych. We should take every game seriously, as the league is not yet over, but we have three more games to play,” he said while praising his team for the comeback as they looked to finish in the prizes bracket.

Only the top five teams in the league get prizes with fifth place getting E100 000. Callies are currently safely occupying the position with a four-point advantage, as sixth-placed Vovovo lost 1-2 to Moneni Pirates while Manzini Wanderers also played a 1-all draw with Milling Hot Spurs. However, the position is still wide open with even Green Mamba who are placed position eight in the running.

Nuro’s Tinyosi counterpart, Julias Chakupewa said it was painful to lose a game that they were in control of for the better part of the 90 minutes.

“When we took the lead we should have been comfortable. We even got easy chances after scoring, which we could have taken home, but we missed and we were punished. We have to improve the mindset and concentration of the players. They have to concentrate the whole 90 minutes,” the coach observed.

He also mentioned that they were fighting relegation and it was still in their hands, as they needed to at least get nine points, which means winning the remaining three games to survive. Tinyosi have 22 points and placed second from bottom in the standings.
