MBABANE – Eswatini international player Justice Figuareido’s team Cape Town All Stars disclosed that the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) had not written to them requesting the player for national duties with Sihlangu.

The former Denver Sundowns and Maritzburg United winger has been named in the 26-member squad by national team Sihlangu Coach Dominic Kunene to prepare for the upcoming 2023 TOTALEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifiers against Togo and Ivory Coast next month.

Cape Town All Stars on the other hand, are preparing for the Promotion and Relegation play offs and their first game is on May 29, 2022. This is about five days before Sihlangu’s first game against Togo.

The GladAfrica outfit Manager identified as, Zuki, said they were in the dark in as far as Figuareido being requested for the national team. “As per our records, the last correspondence we got from EFA was dated February 25, 2022 and this is the only request we received,” she said.

She emphasized that EFA did not send any request recently for the player and had they received it, they would have excused the winger in their activities.

She however, said they would keep checking the correspondence from Eswatini and they would then take it from there, but for now there was nothing that she could say on whether the player would be released or not for the national team.

EFA Marketing and Communications Officer Muzi Radebe said the issue of requesting players from their teams was between the organisation and the clubs.

Meanwhile, Bonkhosi ‘Manyovu’ Dlamini will join the squad next Monday from Angola.
