ESWATINI CUE SPORTS NEWS FOCUS New-look Phocweni drubbed

- BY CHRIS DLAMINI

MANZINI – Army-based Phocweni Pool Club has not yet got the inspiration they need to climb up the ladder two matches into the second round.

This is in the Dixie’s International Pool League played under the auspices of the Manzini Regional Pool League. After a poor first round that saw them finish at the basement, Phocweni, who are under the passionate management of Tornado Dlamini had high hopes coming into this round. This follows the signing of experienced and renowned stars in the likes of Scara Mndzebele and Kwazi Masuku, among others.

Up against a tough Manzini Pool Club (MPC) in an away match, the army side was given more than it had bargained for. It was a one-sided a match at the Manzini Pool Club and playing without their founder, who was absent on the day, Phocweni lacked motivation despite trying in the opening four frames to stand their own.

They were drubbed 13-6, which is a margin that granted MPC four points, as the army team’s failure to reach seven means a bonus point for the winning team. “They beat us. I wasn’t there, but my boys tell me we lost 13-6 and that it was a tough match,” Dlamini said while remaining optimistic that they would soon start to gel, as there were a few new signings that needed to adapt other than Masuku and Mndzebele.
