Sir,

May we never forget that the spirit of alcoholism is real and this spirit is out and about with only one mission; to destroy. It wants to destroy good football players, to destroy families and relationships, whiz kids and intellectuals. This spirit surely originates from hell, as it steals for consumption in church and it tames and shames the young and old.

Let us not forget and let us not pretend we don’t see that alcoholism is killing us. The spirit of alcoholism is making it normal and cool to drink and it is standardising the trend.

CuLturE

It is now culture that in all gatherings there should be alcohol; from weddings to pens down parties and from funerals to everything in between. The spirit of alcoholism is proudly taking over with, sadly, flying colours.

Let us remember that this spirit is making drinkers do everything to defend themselves. It is the spirit that makes them win all debates on alcoholism; they do not do what they like, but what the spirit tells them to do. They do not sleep when they should, but when the spirit allows. They don’t spend according to their budget but according to what the alcoholism decides. They have lost control of their habits as alcoholism is sitting on the driver’s seat.

RECruIts

May we not forget and may we ever remind each other that this spirit is always at work. It recruits every time and everywhere; it steals everyone, young and old, from schools and churches, the rich and poor, whiz kids and the others. We preach only on Sundays, yet this spirit spreads daily, hourly and proudly, inevitably but unnecessary trending with overnight partying themes and it owns a handful of souls.

We must raise awareness that people should be careful before a lot more are enslaved; before it becomes a standard lifestyle and before we record more fatal road accidents. It has caused many family feuds and breakdowns, and also more drunkards. We must tell our kids to run away from alcohol. Alcoholism is a spirit; the bad habit of alcoholic drinks cordially invites the spirit.
