DPM tours House on Fire

MALHERNS - The Deputy Prime Minister Themba Masuku , toured the House on Fire grounds before the official opening of the MTN Bushfire festival yesterday .

The DPM toured the grounds with the festival Director Jiggs Thorne. The statesman was accompanie­d by other government officials namely Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth affairs Harris Bulunga and Motshane Member of Parliament (MP) Robert Magongo.

When the DPM was asked about his tour, he shared his excitement about the return of the festival after a two year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The tour was excellent, the atmosphere is incredible, and set-up is amazing.

@What I like about it is it’s not just for the youth but for all of us, young and old,”said Masuku. He went on to compare the festival to the once famous

Trade Fair show and how this one supersedes it by far, “This festival is so powerful and what I like about it is that it attracts people from different countries and it brings in large numbers,” said Masuku. He said it was impressive to see such a great turnout as it meant the country’s economy would get a boost after suffering a massive blow due to COVID-19.

He commended the Bushfire festival ,as it promotes local talent as they get exposure all over the world once they perform on that stage.

He made an example of Afropop legend Bholoja who has made a name for himself globally. “Our local artists promote peace and stability, which is exactly who we are .

The statesman also applauded the safe atmosphere the festival is renowned for. Masuku went on to say that the vendors were already making money from the festival as he had observed while driving from Mbabane, past Lobamba then Mahlanya.
