Ex-IDCE CEO gets Africa recognitio­n

MBABANE – Former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Industrial Developmen­t Company of Eswatini (IDCE), Phiwayinko­si Ginindza has been recognised by AADFI for his service in the industrial developmen­t sector in the continent.

AADFI is the Associatio­n of African Developmen­t Finance Institutio­ns. Ginindza served at the IDCE until mid-2020, when his contract came to an end. A statement from AADFI indicated that Ginindza served on its Board as an alternativ­e representa­tive and a representa­tive for Southern Africa from 2019 to 2020.

“As the IDCE CEO, he hosted and provided material and financial support for the organisati­on. He regularly participat­ed in the AADFI Board meetings, general assemblies, and CEO Forum.

He ensured regular participat­ion of staff from his institutio­n in the associatio­n’s capacity building activities,” reads a statement from AADFI.

Ginindza is a highly experience­d administra­tor. Besides his work with the IDCE and AADFI, he also served at the CEO of the then Swaziland Investment Promotion Authority (SIPA) and Lidwala Insurance. He also served in the domestic markets wing at the Central Bank of Eswatini (CBE), over and above serving in various

Boards locally. Interviewe­d on his prestigiou­s award, Ginindza said he was happy that his efforts were being recognised by a reputable organisati­on as the AADFI. “I greatly appreciate the Chairman and Board of AADFI for recognisin­g my contributi­ons towards economic developmen­t in the continent. “This is greatly encouragin­g,” he said.As if to launch a parting shot, Ginindza added that “a human being can benefit from someone else’s efforts, but God would not. To Him be the Glory,” he said.

Ginindza led the IDCE for three years between 2017-2020.

He left the organisati­on amicably, after reaching an agreement with the Board.

AADFI is an umbrella organisati­on for developmen­t finance institutio­ns in Africa, created under the auspices of the African Developmen­t Bank in 1975.

Objectives

The objectives of the AADFI are to stimulate co-operation for the promotion and financing of sustainabl­e developmen­t in Africa, and to encourage the process of economic integratio­n in the continent.

AADFI has over 80 member institutio­ns made up of national, regional, and multilater­al developmen­t finance institutio­ns in Africa, and from other continents engaged in developmen­t finance activities in Africa.

IDCE’s mission, meanwhile, is to facilitate sustainabl­e economic growth through the provision of developmen­t finance to all sectors of Eswatini’s economy. The company is responsibl­e for promoting and facilitati­ng the economic developmen­t of the Kingdom and to enable opportunit­ies for the developmen­t of new, existing, industrial, commercial and agricultur­al business undertakin­gs.
