Motorsport has partnered with five prominent record labels in Eswatini to make the coming show an experience to remember.
The events company has made it a point to book artists from big music stables namely; Mega Sound, New Life Entertainment, Deck Life who is responsible for Pop Sunday, Monday Therapy and Swazi Boy Entertainment. Eswatini Motor Sports believes that it is of utmost importance to make sure that the majority of entertainment comes from the kingdom.
The two-day event will encompass a lot of activity including performances, spinning/ drag racing, camping, food stalls and much more. On the day fans are set to see ‘Makhadzi’, and to expect a surprise performance from another South African act who is yet to be announced.
Spinning has been a culture that has been steadily growing in Eswatini and has brought a diverse number of people from all over the country together. Spinning is a motorsport that involves driving cars at high speed in circles and performing stunts in and out of the car. It originated in Soweto in the late 1980s, and was performed as a funeral ritual in which a stolen car was spun around to honor the deceased. It is now a recognised motorsport.
Spinning is the art of controlling chaos while creating entertainment, just like theater. While it may not be respected as a sport to some, to the spinning community it has become
their pride and joy. It is a culture and a movement yet, it is the only ‘motorsport’ that covers all races, faces and different shoelaces. It is the only motorsport that is accessible for everyone. In the mainstream sphere spinners have become performers out to entertain the crowds. It’s much like a travelling circus where the paid-performers travel from town to town to entertain the masses. Eswatini Motor Sport Weekend event will have some of the top spinning legends of the culture in the whole of Africa including King Katra, Team Numbi (SamSam) and Austin from South Africa, Mozambican Spinners and the best local spinners Eswatini has to offer.
KB the entertainer from the kingdom will be doing his thing on the ones and two’s. When reached for comment he said: “People should buy their tickets and come through because the show will be the bomb.” New Life Entertainment representative management confirmed that artists managed by the record label would be performing, namely DJ Cup and Illa Pen Boy. When reached for comment the star reassured his fans about his participation. “I will be performing there, it’s confirmed and I am excited to be sharing a stage with ‘Makhadzi’ for the second time,” said the artist.
