MBABANE – At least 10 teams have registered for the Pick n Pay Under-15s Girls Tournament billed for tomorrow.

Eswatini Women Football League (EWFL) Chief Operations Officer (COO) Ntandoyenkosi Hlatshwayo said 10 of the 13women football teams campaigning under EWFL would be participating.

The COO revealed that the three teams in Kappa Ladies, Mbekelweni and AS Interladies Ladies had confirmed that they would not take part in the inaugural PnPE2.4 million sponsored tournament.

“The 10 teams who have confirmed their participation are Elangeni, Wanderers, Green Mamba, Young Buffaloes, Royal Leopard, Illovo, Happy Girls, Shiselweni Roses, Shiselweni Divas and Mbekelweni.

The games will begin at 9am and they will be played across different stadiums in all the regions,” Hlatshwayo said.

She also said Kappa Ladies requested to be excused from this year’s competition as they highlighted that they had failed to assemble their Under-15 team.

She said the playing format for tomorrow’s games would be a seven-a-side.

The girls’ Under-15 tournament is part of PnP’s E2.4 million sponsorship for the development of the sport across the country in partnership with Eswatini Football Association (EFA). This sponsorship is to be spread over three years and each edition taking over E800 000. The boys’ addition started last week Saturday across the country and it began with walks from the stores to the playing venues.
