REPS Operation ‘Basadi XIII’ to end GBV

MBABANE-THE Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) through its Gender Network has, its mandate to end violence against women and children.

In compliance with a Resolution taken by the Southern African Regional

Police Chiefs Cooperation Organisation (SARPCCO) to combat this scourge, the police service conducted an operation code named “BASADI XIII”. This operation is held twice a year, during the months of May and November. The timing of the operation during the month of December is purposely made to coincide with the 16 Days of Activism to end violence against women and children to show and express the organisation’s commitment to fight and combat this evil. The operation was conducted from the May 18 to 20, 2022 by all SARPCCO member countries. The objective was to arrest wanted persons for offences of violence against women and children as well as offenders for other crimes that contribute to Gender Based Violence.
