EDITOR’S CORNER!

- ... WITH NOMBUSO DLAMINI

M Ypurpose in life is to uplift. Uplift my neighbours, friends, colleagues and those upcoming artists who have everybody around them but nobody to support them and their aspirations.

I am driven by my own personal experiences and I know how it feels to grasp at straws and all those around you looking, but not reacting to your wail for help.

This week was a very significant week for me and my entire team because we’ve just come back from the 2022 MTN Bushfire Festival and it was a great comeback after a long two-year wait.

What excited me the most was seeing local artists performing at such a huge international event, even some performing at the main stage.

There’s nothing that screams approval than that of someone’s career. I’d like to just take this opportunity to congratulate Master P, Lady Crèam, Ayacity, Dope Deep and Skhay for representing themselves and Eswatini so well on an international platform.

I also got a chance to have a sit down and interview music legends, Don Laka and former Freshlyground lead singer, Zolani.

It was like being dragged to the fountain of wisdom and drinking from it directly, because what I learnt from those two interviews is not something that I could have learnt in any classroom.

‘Ubuntu will take you far, courage will move you further and drive will keep the wheels of your career moving towards the direction of your dreams.’

Further what I took from the MTN Bushfire Festival was the explosion of fashion forward outfits and designer looks that were hard to miss, it was couture galore.

As the theme at this year’s festival was green, some fire starters stuck to the theme, but it doesn’t take anything away from the ones that brought their A game in different colours. Some took us on a tour around Africa blending different cultures in one outfit; some looked like they were straight out of a story book, looking all kinds of magical.

Then it was the new school gang with their unique fashion forward looks which reminisced on the retro 90’s look.

As a generation we are definitely setting a tone of how we want to do things and how we want the world to see that, we are definitely the CHANGABLES.

We are innovative in everything that we do be it food, clothing, way of interacting.

We are influential among each other and what is left for us is to support each other abundantly to achieve what our actions have set in motion.

I want to be that bridge, the middle man between our talent and the world.

I want to uplift all those who are willing to let me in, in order to inspire those who are still just dreaming about it.
