“This implies that the seasonal coaching licence will come to an end at the end of the 2021/22 football season,” Radebe explained.

The news had also already been broken by EFA Technical Director Boy ‘Bizzah’ Mkhonta earlier in the morning on national radio Eswatini Broadcasting and Information Services (EBIS)’ This was during the Sport Show which was hosted by Nathi ‘Mdockies’ Hlophe. The latter took the opportunity to then question Mkhonta why the EFA failed to admit coaches who have worked in South Africa (SA) when they had the qualifications and had been in employment in a professional league.

Requirement

“We’ve never turned anyone back. Football has standards laid down about who coaches where and what is the requirement,” he immediately responded before the presenter went on to ask him what was the difference in their qualifications as all the countries were under the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

He was pressed further about what differences were there as CAF also controlled SA football, but diplomatically said they were ‘guided by CAF’ and dared the journalist to do his own research about the neighbouring country and make his own assessment, as he would not say they were defying CAF requirements. South Africa after the latter wanted to know what was different with CAF here and South Africa.

Announced

Mkhonta had before these questions just announced the refresher course and explained that it was meant for all coaches with Licences A, B, and C. Eswatini Football Coaches Association (EFCA) Secretary Musa Mamba affirmed the EFA informed his office and he had also been personally aware of it.

“The office of the technical director made the association aware of the developments, fortunately I also attended a course in Zambia where we told of the CAF Convention,” he said.

Mamba said the convention was meant to improve the game and he learnt it would come to this one day in 2019 during the course in Zambia.
