-

MBABANE – No COVID-19 related fatality was reported yesterday as 23 new positive cases were found in 337 people tested across the country. Two hundred and fifty nine cases were active while 72 685 were cumulative. The full recovery list stands at 71 016 were reported to be new recoveries and 8 were still admitted.

The Ministry of Health further reminded the nation of the three principal ways of fighting COVID-19 to wash hands with soap and running water, keeping a social distance of at least one to two metres from another person and covering your mouth and nose with a face mask.

The country’s vaccination drive reached 30.6 per cent of the population as 355 434 people have taken the jab.

Travellers entering and exiting the Kingdom of Eswatini were reminded to produce a valid COVID-19 vaccination certificate (hardcopy or electronic) or a valid negative COVID-19 PCR test result (hardcopy or electronic) that was not older than 72 hours, for those unvaccinated.

The Ministry of Health advised people to do the following:

Wear a mask during large outdoor gatherings, all indoor events, in shops and in public transport.

Wash your hands frequently with soap and running water for at least 40 seconds or use an alcohol-based hand sanitiser.

Watch your distance it must be at least one metre away from another person during large outdoor gatherings and all indoor gatherings.

Avoid the Three Cs: Closed spaces with poor ventilation crowded places with many people near each other and close-contact settings such as close-range conversations. A combination of these three Cs results in a high transmission of the virus.

Opt for the outdoors.

Vaccination cards are not allowed at the border. Outbound travellers from Eswatini must also comply with requirements.

Children under 12 years are exempted from the amended measures.
