Dying horse’s hope in last kick ... as three teams in fierce relegation fight
EZULWINI – The MTN Premier League, with all its twists and turns since it started last November, is finally coming to an end this afternoon for 12 teams, but the top four in the standings.
It’s a fight for survival as two of three bottom-placed sides play for their lives.
These are Milling Hot Spurs, Rangers and Tambuti. Two of these three will join basement side in former CAF Confederation participants Malanti Chiefs and Tinyosi as four teams are set to go down to the National
1ST ROUND HEAD-TO-HEAD:
to Rangers. It is Tambuti they must have on their minds as they do battle here. Sea Birds are no stroll in the park, but after a promising start to the season they dropped drastically with inconsistency being their letdown, are fighting for the sixth and last playing spot in the prizes - E75 000 is the reward.
They have 37 points on position seven, behind Manzini Wanderers who have 39 on sixth. Other sides going for the cheque are Vovovo and Green Mamba who have 37 and 36 points respectively.
Green Mamba take on Manzini Wanderers in a clash scheduled for 2:30pm at KaLanga Technical Centre, while Vovovo have a date with Rangers at Prince of Wales Sports Ground at the same time. It’s all eyes on this one.
1ST ROUND HEAD-TO-HEAD:
need a win especially because Rangers are just a point behind them and should the Shiselweni-based rookies win, they go above both sides and stay in the elite league.
Milling gets a point, Tambuti still need a win to go above and survive while the former and Rangers take the axe. What may make it tough for Tambuti is that Tinyosi have nothing to lose here as they already know they will be back in the First Division League football next season after spending two in the top league.
