Victor Masilela celebrate 53yrs in style

-

EZULWINI – It was a double celebration for Previc Golf Challenge sponsor Pastor Victor Masilela, who was joined by over 100 people in celebrating 53 years yesterday at the Sharma House in Ezulwini.

The glamorous birthday and thanks giving ceremony was a significant moment for the sponsor who shared a life-changing story of how playing golf helped him recover from a spinal cord injury that haunted him for over a decade.

“When we are at the golf course, we are at our element: Sometimes we act like children, crack jokes and spend over five hours playing golf. After years of suffering from my illness, that partially crippled me, golf helped me to walk again. I learnt a lot from golf and the golfers like my friend Joe Dlamini. Today I have a different approach to life because of golf. Thank you to the golfers who came to celebrate with me, my family and members of the church,”Masilela said.

The man of the cloth injected E85 000 towards the monthly golf challenge during its inceptiption on January 29, 2020 at the tournament’s home turf, Mananga Golf Course.

Speaking of his motivation to sponsor golf, the man of the cloth said his decision was spiritually aligned.

“Some people may think that I am splashing money by sponsoring golf. The truth of the matter is that the sponsorship towards my favourite sport is similar to a a lure in front of a fish hook because my mission, as sent by God, is to have 80percent golfers living an honest Christian life,” he said.

Golfer BK Mbhamali, speaking on behalf of Masilela’s friends, sent everyone into stitches when describing the relationship shared by golfers.

“Not even our wives know us better than we know each other as golfers. We can do anything and spend five hours out in the woods. By the time we finish, we are stress-free,” he said.

The recent Previc Golf Challenge that was played on May 21, 2020 is being defended by second time champion Mbuso Mdluli.
